Henna for the summer 2013 Chico,California

This summer you can find me with my purely natural henna designs in Chico, California;

  •  Thursday Night Market, every Thursday 6-9 pm * Broadway Street between 3rd & 4th St
  • Chapman Farmer’s Market every Friday 2-7 pm * Cleveland Avenue, by the park

The Thursday Night Market is bustling with energy and larger crowds, a nice selection of artisans, food trucks, fresh local produce and fresh food items with live bands on the streets and plaza of downtown.

The Chapman Farmer’s Market is a small and fairly new market situated against the community park on Martin Luther King Jr Parkway. You can find fresh local produce, artisans, plants, music and small crowds.

I hope to see you soon for some summer henna!

A new henna season and new shapes and forms emerge in the henna designs. Design elements added to muscle memory, new patterns and concepts inspire new work and spins on some older work. Henna downtown, on the street for the Thursday Night Market, 6-9 pm Chico, California.

closing the streets for henna

April to September from 6-9 pm, the streets of downtown Chico, California close to vehicles and open to the local community for the Thursday Night Market. Chico is known for it’s passion for localvore habits and the market is a great place to see what is coming into season, foodwise and artistically as many musicians and performing artists occupy stages,  local artisans abound, as well as community groups. I have been providing henna there since 2009,  and it has been a great blessing. I have met and connected with many people, and have seen many return year after year, week after week for henna.

Henna truly is amazing. What a natural gift.

Thank you Chico! See you at the market!

Market henna season closing tonight!

It has been a rather inspiring 6 months of henna in the streets of downtown Chico, California for the Thursday Night Market! All my supporters have my utmost gratitude for embracing this exquisite, ancient and temporal artistry. I will miss the hustle and bustle of this beautiful evening market, meeting up with my community, and supporting other artists, farmers, and cooks! Incidentally, our humble little market was named one of the best of the World’s Best Late-Nite Foodie Havens! Pretty cool for a small, rural college town amongst organic farms and orchards. We love excellent food here, that is for sure!

This year will mark my 4 season slinging henna on the street for the market. I have learned so much thru the years. I look forward to coming back next April, refreshed and armed with new henna patterns, books and ideas just for you, dear Chico. Come see me tonight and revel in the awesome of our town! Purely natural.

Henna downtown and in the streets

Every Thursday Chico, California closes the streets of downtown to traffic and farmers, artisans, chefs, and local organizations set up for 3 hours to connect with our community. I am coming to the close of another fantastic year of henna, marking my 4th year of public henna. I have so much gratitude to my henna sister, who called me to join her 4 years ago and showed me so much about henna by example.

You can find me on Broadway between 3rd and 4th street every Thursday 6-9pm thru September, or find me at Eye of Jade Tattoo on Fridays downtown, 319 Main Street. All this weekend you can find me at the Chico World Music Festival on the Chico State campus Saturday and Sunday. Adorn your skin with beautiful henna, unique and temporal beautification. I’ll be there.

July 1st, 2010

July around here means golden grasses and a high heat index. This also means great henna stains. I actually love the dry heat, the smell of the dry grasses and the sound of a distant rain bird clicking away in a neighbor’s yard. It feels, smells and sounds like home.

Tonight I will set up my “golden tent” at the Thursday Night Market on Broadway Street for Henna Trails. This is a lovely  event, when the sun is on it’s way down, and people come out for cold drinks, fresh produce, and mingle. I see a wide variety of people stopping in, some stay to watch for a bit and move on. Some stop to watch and decide to try some henna body art. I am happy to be able to offer a small bit of beautification and joy to my community. Henna is an ancient beauty ritual embraced by many people all around our world. In all honesty, I wish more of my community embraced this sort of adornment. I see it as Mother Nature’s manicure, surely a bit more creative. I will continue to quietly henna in my community, slowly bringing an awareness around. I am patient.

Namaste, my friends.
